Ayres Adventures - Alpine Escape

The Alpine Escape begins with a selection of a late model motorcycle from the full BMW line. Accommodations include luxury spa resorts in the Stelvio National Park and in St. Moritz. Dining will be a la carte, with many dinners in intimate, upscale restaurants.  You will never be presented with a limited-choice, “tourist” menu on any of our tours, and non-alcoholic beverages are always included with your meal.

The size of the tour group will be limited to about ten motorcycles, making it possible for us to enjoy the smaller, more intimate lodging and dining that distinguish our Adventures.  The Alpine Escape is not a tour designed for the masses.

Arrival Day:   Zurich.  The arrival destination for all of our Alpine Adventures is Zurich, Switzerland.  We’ll meet your flight, escort you to your lake front hotel in the pleasant Zurich suburb of Kusnacht, and let you get familiarized with your motorcycle.  In the evening, we’ll enjoy a kick-off celebration dinner in a fine restaurant.

Day 2:  Zurich to Cannobio, Italy.  The first day will be a fairly easy riding day; a great introduction to the riding that lies before you.  We’ll begin by riding south along the shore of Lake Zurich to Meilen, where we’ll take a ferry across the lake and head for our first collection of popular Alpine passes. The ride will feature stunning views of the "Valais" region of Switzerland - the heart of the Alps and home to the country's highest peaks and extreme mountain terrain.

We'll spend the night in Cannobio, a charming Italian village that has managed to preserve its rich architectural and historical heritage as well as its natural lake and mountain setting. The village is located on the shores of Lake Maggiore - Italy's second largest lake.

Day 3:  Cannobio to Bormio. We’ll head for some of the most beautiful passes in the Alps: Bernina, Maloja, Oberalp, Lukmanier, and Splugen.

Our hotel is located in the Livignese National Park in the midst of the Rhaetian Alps, between the famous Stelvio and Bernina Passes.  The hotel is a short distance from Livigno a well known duty-free town, so you may want to take a short ride for some shopping while avoiding the Italian VAT (value added tax).

Day 4:  Bormio to St. Moritz. Today’s ride marks the start of the Italian Dolomites.  The scenery and landscapes on today’s ride will be absolutely stunning.  The day’s ride includes one of the highest and most popular passes in the Alps – Passo Di Gavia.  Many motorcyclists consider the pass their favorite in all of the Alps.  Many parts of the pass are very narrow and without guard rails.  Today's ride also includes the most famous motorcycle pass in all of Europe – the Stelvio Pass.  The pass has more than 40 very sharp hairpin turns on each side.  The scenery is indescribably – it must be seen to be believed. Be sure to stop at the top of the Stelvio for photos and a refreshing hot drink at one of the snack bars or restaurants.

You'll spend the night in St. Moritz – one of the most famous towns in Switzerland. St. Moritz is renowned for beautiful landscapes, high fashion, fine cuisine and great hospitality. Chances are you’ll have a great day in St. Moritz, as the sun shines an average of 322 days per year.

Day 5:  St. Moritz to Zurich, via Liechtenstein.
Today’s ride includes a visit to the smallest country in the world, Liechtenstein.  This small landlocked country, tucked away in the Alps between Austria and Switzerland, is also known as a tax haven.  The country is the only absolute monarchy in Europe. Don’t blink or you may miss this one.

After another great day of riding you’ll arrive back at your hotel with plenty of time to relax and clean up before your special celebration dinner.

Day 6:  Departure Day.  We’ll accompany you to the airport for your flight home.

Our Alpine Adventures afford an ideal opportunity to include non-riding companions.  Tours include a large, comfortable support vehicle.  Just register your guest as a passenger and let us know that you’d like us to reserve a seat in the support vehicle. Passengers will enjoy all the attractions of the Adventure.
