Empire of the Incas is a 13-day tour that provides an opportunity to explore the Inca civilization in more depth than is offered with most motorcycle tours of the area, Culminating in a visit to the "Lost City" of Machu Picchu - nestled deep in the Andes Mountains, the adventure also includes a carefully selected collection of additional South American attractions, including Lake Titicaca, the Atacama Desert, the Colca Canyon, and the Chilean mountain resort of San Pedro de Atacama. Meals and accommodations are first class throughout the tour.

Day 1: Welcome to Chile! We will pick you up at the small airport of Arica and bring you to the hotel. We'll turn over the motorcycles to you and will have a kickoff meeting to introduce you to the coming Adventure. We'll kick off things with a welcome dinner in the evening.

Day 2: Arica to Arequipa, Peru (~430 km) Today includes a border crossing into Peru and a ride on the world famous Panamerican Highway through the Peruvian coast desert. In the afternoon we climb the road to Arequipa, the “White City” – surrounded by up to 6000 m high volcanoes.

Colca Canyon

Day 3: Arequipa – Colca Canyon – Chivay (~180 km) Ride across 4000+ m high passes to the Colca Canyon – one of the deepest canyons in the world. Watch the condors circle in the rising air of this scenic highlight!

Day 4: Chivay – Cuzco (~500 km) Cross the Andes and ride to the former capital of the Inca empire. We spend most of the day in altitudes of approximately 4000 m.

Day 5: Free Day in Cuzco. Today is dedicated to the city of Cuzco and its surroundings. A city tour brings us to the most famous places, including Sacsayhuaman or the Temple of the Sun. You will have plenty of time to relax and enjoy this beautiful city in the afternoon.

Day 6: Free Day in Cuzco. Today is the day for the trip to Machu Picchu! A spectacular train ride brings us to this hidden Inca city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most popular tourist attractions of South America. Guided tour included

Lake Titicaca

Day 7: Cuzco – Puno (~400 km) Ride to Lake Titicaca, with 3808 m the highest navigable lake in the world. In the afternoon guided boat tour to the Uros, an indigenous people living on floating islands

Day 8: Puno – Arica (~470 km) Crossing two more Andean passes, we finally descend from the 4400 m high passroads and cross the border into Arica.

Day 9: Arica – Iquique, Chile (~370 km) We continue south on the Panamericana Highway, riding through up to 1000 m deep canyons. Our destination, Iquique, is a beautiful seaside resort with many very popular beaches.

San Pedro de Atacama

Day 10: Iquique – San Pedro de Atacama (~500 km). The Panamerican Highway leads south along the spectacular Chilean coast. In Tocopilla we turn east and start climbing to the Atacama Desert, the driest desert on our planet. San Pedro de Atacama is a laid-back oasis amidst the stunning scenery of volcanoes, dunes and salt lakes.

Day 11: Free day in San Pedro de Atacama (~70 km) Relax and walking around in laid-back San Pedro. At sunset we'll visit the famous “Valley of the Moon” - stunning scenery with sand dunes, volcanoes and bizarre rock formations.

Day 12: San Pedro de Atacama – Antofagasta (~400 km) In the morning we ride through the “Salar de Atacama”, one of the most bizarre landscapes on the planet. After crossing another pass, we descend to the Pacific Ocean again. The desert city of Antofagasta - our final destination – is famous for seafood and Pisco Sour, which we will enjoy during our farewell dinner at night!
